It is the goal of the Raymond B. Stewart Middle School Band, to create an environment through music and the arts that will foster, challenge, motivate, develop and demand our students to become responsible and mature young adults. This program is dedicated to achieving excellence in our musical and educational endeavors. We believe band combines the best of music, art, leadership, dedication, and maturity while still having fun.

The Beginning Band course is designed to provide students with an introductory experience on band instruments. Beginning Band is open to all Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Grade students. Prior instrumental music experience is not required. Additionally, the Beginning Band performs at the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and Solo & Ensemble.
The Concert Band is recommended for students who have already completed the Beginning Band course. This course expands upon the knowledge taught in the Beginning Band. In addition, this band combines with the Symphonic Band to become the RBSMS Marching Bulldog Band, which performs at all home football games and some local parades. Current Symphonic Band students can access Resource Materials.
The Symphonic Band is recommended for students who have already completed the Beginning Band course. This ensemble is made-up of the very best musicians from the entire band program. Only students who demonstrate exceptional playing ability and behavior will be placed in the Symphonic Band. In addition, this band combines with the Concert Band to become the RBSMS Marching Bulldog Band, which performs at all home football games and some local parades. The Jazz Ensemble is recommended to students who have already completed Beginning Band and have in interest in learning to play Jazz. This ensemble’s instrumentation is that of a standard big band, featuring Saxophones (Alto, Tenor, Baritone), Trumpet, Trombone, and Rhythm Section (Piano, Bass, Guitar, Drum Set). Students are selected to this ensemble based on ability, behavior, and interest in jazz. Current Jazz Students can access the Jazz Resource page on our website.
The Concert Choir is recommended to students who wish to study the human voice. Current Concert Choir students can access the Choral Resource page on our website.
