All-County Band Forms

This is just a reminder for all Concert/Symphonic Band Students to get your All-County Forms turned in. I have to submit a list to the District Office on Friday, and order a bus (if necessary).

Here’s the list of forms I already have:

  • Samantha Crist
  • Candice Mastykarz
  • Carl Radman
  • Shania Spittka
  • Amber Strokus
  • Haley Torres
  • Ellie Wilkinson

We have a quite a few students in our band program that stand a great chance to make this honor band….. but you have to audition. It’s impossible to make the band, without putting in the effort. Please, get your forms in!!!

ZHS Band Night

This Friday is the ZHS Band Night! Our Symphonic and Concert Band classes are expected to perform at the game! It’s a great experience for them, to get the feel of what High School Band is like.

The game will be incredibly busy. It is homecoming, which means we should have a big crowd, including alumni. If you were once in band and would like to perform with our combined bands, please come on out (even if it was with a different band/school). If you let us know in advance, we’ll try to have some instruments available for you to use.

Here’s the schedule for Friday’s game:

6:00 p.m. – Report to the ZHS Choral Room for attendance and warm-up.

6:30 p.m. – Combined rehearsal with the ZHS Bulldog Band and Centennial Cyclone Band.

7:15 p.m. – Pregame.

7:30 p.m. – Kickoff.

10:30 p.m. – ZHS Light’s Out Show!

10:45 p.m. – Dismissal.

Uniform – Band Polo Shirts, Black Pants, Black Socks and Black Shoes.

Grading – This performance does count as a grade for our Concert and Symphonic Band Students.

If you have any other questions/concerns, please let us know.

Beginning Band: Field Trip Chaperones

Our Beginning Band Field Trip to see the Florida Orchestra is quickly approaching. We have 68 beginning band students signed-up to take this trip. We had nearly 25 parents volunteer to chaperone. The most we are able to take for this event (due to tickets and volunteer approval) is 11. Those 11 Chaperones are as follows:

  1. Armenia, John
  2. Armenia, Michelle
  3. Boyce, Holly
  4. Brugnone, Cassandra
  5. Ewing, Barbara
  6. Jones, Debra
  7. McLeod, Kathy
  8. Minton, Stacey
  9. Pace, Trisha
  10. Piankowski, Yvette
  11. Urban, Heather

If for some reason one of these chaperones are unable attend, we will contact another parent from our list.

Thank you again for your help and support with our beginning band! If you have any additional questions or concerns, please let me know as soon as possible.

Jazz @ Community Connections Night

The Jazz Band has been asked to play at this week’s Community Connections Night. After speaking to the students, they all wanted to play at it. So, here are the details:

Times: 4:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. (we will play from about 5:00 p.m. to about 6:00 p.m.)

Uniform: Jeans and Polo Shirts

Today, we’ve had a handful of absences (due to illness) who may affect our ability to perform. If for some reason we are unable to perform tomorrow (due to absences), we will post it here on the website, and will send out a Remind101.

Sorry for the late notice. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me ASAP.

Performance/Rehearsal Absences

Don’t forget that you must turn a note in to Mr. Schmidt if you are absent from a rehearsal or performance (football game, parade, concert, etc….). Without a note, your grade will remain a zero. If your absence is excused, you’ll be listed in eSembler as ABE (Absent But Excused). If your absence is unexcused your grade will remain a zero.

Some types of Excused Absences include:

  • Severe Illness
  • Death in the Family
  • Weddings (if discussed in advance)

If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
