A few percussion students have been asking about what equipment they need, so that they can practice at home. The answer is a Practice Pad and a Bell Kit.
Practice Pads are the best way to practice Snare Drum, without a real Snare Drum. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes and prices. Luckily these practice pads can last a number of years, if taken care of. Here are a few examples of some practice pads:
These practice pads can usually be found at any reputable music dealer.
Bell Kits are the ideal way to practice mallets from home. They come in a variety of sizes and can be costly. After a year or two, students generally outgrow a basic bell kit. Here are a few examples of some Bell Kits:
Our school does have a few that can be checked-out. Bell Kits can usually be found at any reputable music dealer.

Don’t forget that Tampa Bay Lightning money is due on December 13, 2013. Please get your money in ASAP. If we don’t receive enough to make a deposit to the Lightning by December 13th, we may have to cancel this trip.

A few days ago we posted about “Project: Band Director”. The purpose of this project is to find retired band directors and professional musicians within the Zephyrhills community to come out to our schools (RBSMS and ZHS) and share their skills and knowledge with our students! The opportunity to offer lessons and master classes to our students would be tremendous.
If you are someone who expressed interest in working at Raymond James Stadium to meet your students band related expenses, there will be a training on December 3rd at 6:30 p.m. Once you’re trained, your training is valid for 3 years. To sign-up, please contact Laura from the ZHS Band Boosters at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once trained, you may begin working stadium events. Each event you work earns you $30.00 towards your expense (ex: shirts, trips, etc….). In addition to paying for your expenses, you can also apply that money to help a student in need.
Here’s a list of our upcoming rehearsals and performances:
